Since March 2020, the GI WACAF team has reorganized its work programme to adapt to international travel restrictions linked to the COVID-19 pandemic while continuing to address the needs of 22 countries in terms of oil spill preparedness and response.
Three axes had been identified and continue to be applied:
- Remote assistance on technical and policy aspects;
- Online training; and
- Networking and partnerships.
For GI WACAF, the first quarter of 2021 was dedicated to continuing remote assistance activities which had been started in 2020, preparing new GI WACAF webinars, and participating in several virtual events with partners.
