GI WACAF attends the mid-term evaluation meeting of the COBIA initiative in Dakar, Senegal
GI WACAF is working in close collaboration with the COBIA initiative1, a project financed by the MAVA foundation and coordinated by IDDRI, a french think tank. GI WACAF and COBIA share common goals in terms of the strengthening of the National Oil Spill Contingency Plans and implementation of IMO’s OPRC Convention. This is why GI WACAF has been invited by the MAVA foundation to attend this mid-term evaluation meeting.
After three years of implementation, MAVA is organizing the mid-term evaluation of the action plan “Environmental Management of Offshore Oil and Gas Activities" from March 09 to 13, 2020, in Dakar, Senegal. The purpose of this meeting is essentially to assess the progress made by the Outcome Action Plan, in particular the level of achievement of results, progress in implementing strategies and collaboration between implementing partners. It will also involve revisiting the Theory of Change (results chain) developed at the beginning of the Outcome Action Plan and focusing on the strategic priorities to be pursued in the second phase.
1 As part of its 2016-2022 strategy, the MAVA foundation is funding an action plan called “Environmental Management of Offshore Oil and Gas Activities". It includes four (4) strategies led by four (4) international partners: BirdLife International, Abidjan Convention, the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) and the Regional Partnership for the Conservation of the Coastal and Marine Zone in West Africa (PRCM). The four (4) main strategies are implemented in partnership with national institutions and NGOs based in the countries implementing the action plan: Guinea Bissau, Mauritania, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
