GI WACAF is happy to have been invited to the Disaster Management Institute of Southern Africa (DMISA) DRR Webinar 2021.
DMISA DRR Webinar 2021 replaced the annual DMISA Conference that was planned for 2020, and which had to be postponed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It focused on past and future manifestations of disaster risk in Southern Africa and internationally, and on building consensus towards active disaster risk reduction, resilience and risk governance in both urban and rural settings.
Throughout this 2-day webinar, DMISA wanted to encourage innovate and forward-looking discourse that activates and encourages on a practical level.By enabling participation by a wider audience through the DRR Webinar 2021, DMISA provided opportunity for a diverse range of stakeholders in disaster management from across Africa and the world to gather and share skills, knowledge and experience in order to promote disaster risk reduction in Southern Africa and beyond.
During this webinar, the GI WACAF team presented the Project as well as activities conducted in South Africa on oil spill preparedness and response, notably those relating to the implementation of IMS (Incident Management System):
