Objectives

  • Review and update the National Oil Spill Contingency Plan in order to ensure that it complied with international guidelines, and to facilitate Nigeria’s participation under the International Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment of the West and Central Africa (WACAF), Protocol on Co-operation in Cases of Serious Marine Pollution Incidents (the Emergency Protocol) and the International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation, 1990 (OPRC 1990)
  • Develop and agree to a Plan of Action for the finalization and implementation of a revised NOSCP, based on the findings of the Workshop
